PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES
Mr. Murray serves as project manager and design architect. His
responsibilities include all phases of work from initial programming to
construction observation.
RELATED EXPERIENCE
Mr. Murray has worked for over thirty five years as project
architect and project manager on numerous architectural, historic
preservation, trail and streetscape projects. As a result, he is very
familiar with successfully handling demanding and complex assignments in
historic districts. Additionally, Mr. Murray enjoys working on the
adaptive rehabilitation of older structures. His attention to the original
design and construction detailing leads to innovative, durable re-use
solutions. He maintains a wholistic view of his projects while attending
to the details that make for successful design.
Mr. Murray’s expertise in conservation-oriented design is clear in his
architectural solutions for project ranging from new construction and
in-fill construction to adaptive re-use and significant historic
preservation. His understanding of buildings and codes in small towns has
developed from extensive experience in the older areas of Delaware,
Chester and Montgomery Counties.
During his tenure with Campbell Thomas & Co., Mr. Murray has worked on
several award-winning projects including many of the restorations in the
Parkside Historic District. He has been involved with several historic
sites within Fairmount Park. Mr. Murray worked on the planning and
adaptive reuse of the Chamounix Mansion Carriage House as an expanded youth
hostel facility, and contributed, as well, to the architectural and
programming analysis for the Fairmount Water Works Master Plan. Campbell
Thomas received the Preservation Award for the facade restoration and
lobby re-design of 1908 Spruce Street which was designed and documented
for construction by Mr. Murray.
Mr. Murray has also participated in several Trail Designs. He is very
familiar with successfully handling demanding and complex assignments as
were involved with assembling construction documents for the Philadelphia-
Valley Forge Trail. Mr. Murray is quite familiar with the documentation
requirements and project management techniques employed by PennDOT when
working with a municipality, and he applied this specialty to projects
such as the Radnor Multi-Use Trail, Chester Valley Trail, Perkiomen Trail,
the Schuylkill Canal Towpath Trail, and the Adubon Loop Trail.
In addition to historic renovation and trail projects, Mr. Murray’s
experience with municipally funded projects for new construction, such as
the East Spring Avenue Modular Homes in Ardmore, PA, also enables him to
work efficiently with the documentation requirements and project
management techniques employed by funding sources.
