The Heights at the Roe
163 Conarroe Street, Manayunk, Philadelphia
- Campbell Thomas & Co. obtained zoning and oversaw the construction of a 1910 3-story school building to 20 accessible apartments ranging in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms. Rental space was increased to 34,700 square feet by adding a floor to its high-ceilinged gymnasium and theater space and then converting that into 8 bi-level units. The basement was modified to include 8 car parking spaces supporting ADA vans, bicycles and electric car charging stations. The building exceeds energy efficiency codes with low utility bills. It has solar panels on the roof giving additional energy savings. Interior public corridors maintain the original feeling of the school retaining its woodwork, transoms and staircases. Other new features include a trash chute, a 4-story elevator, stair tower and outdoor parking.
