Commissioned by the Parkside Preservation I
Limited Partnership, Campbell Thomas & Co. helped bring back to life
these 95-year-old buildings using both the Historic and Low Income Tax
Credits.
These mansions were erected for the affluent in the late 1800’s and
are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. They stand
five stories high and display noteworthy architectural detail.
Unfortunately, vacancy, severe weathering, vandalism and a series of
fires took its toll causing a partial collapse. The restoration of the
copper trimmings, mansard roofs, molded terra cotta ornaments,
Pompeian brickwork, large porches, archways and bay windows enhances
the neighborhood and provides 18 moderate income apartments. The
building with its new elevator is now accessible to the disabled.
